High travel season in the northern hemisphere coincides with the warmer months for a number of reasons. The weather is generally better (or, at least more reliable), kids are out of school, and it's easier to take off of work. But, the airlines, hotels, and tour operates know this and charge a premium - it's simple supply and demand. Any trip, whether domestic, international, or even within a few hours from your home, can be exciting, and stressful, if your not prepared. I remember back to my first trip abroad. I was 17 (oh my gosh, that was over 10 years ago, #ifeelold), fresh out of high school, and I was going with a group organised through my school. Best of all, my sister and I were going together and we were going to England! Needless to say, we were excited, but also nervous. Between the flight, the time change, the new currency, and new foods, we weren't exactly sure what to expect.

Iceland Plans

As you read this, we are in Iceland, preparing for some diving in the cold, but amazing, waters of the Arctic circle. We started planning this trip a couple of months ago knowing that we wanted to dive Silfra (it's on our bucket list!) and we worried that slots would fill up. But we also realized that while our main reason for traveling here was diving, that we would also have a lot of other time to explore. This is when I began researching other things to do in the area. I would hate to travel there, just to be scrambling to find things to do during our surface intervals. Here, I have listed some of the things that we want to try to do and see, either on days that we are diving, or on our dry day before we head back to Germany.

How I Plan Our European Adventures

Since moving to Germany, it has become my responsibility to book and arrange pretty much all of our travel. Ok, even in Michigan it was my responsibility, but we travel a lot more over here, so I've gotten a LOT more practice recently. Sometimes, one of the hardest parts of planning a trip is deciding where to go! Thankfully, whenever I am having ''trip block'' (kind of like writers block, #firstworldproblems), I take a look at our never ending Bucket List and pick something from there or browse Pinterest for some inspiration.

Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial

ust outside of Luxembourg city is the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial. Aaron and I made sure to stop here on our way home. It was established on December 29, 1944 by the 609th Quartermaster Company of the US Army when American troops began burying those lost in battle. Today, over 5,000 service men and women have the cemetery as their final resting place. In 1951, the land on which the cemetery rest was signed over to the US for their use in perpetuity.

Tips for Visiting Luxembourg City

It was a ''Get Out of Germany'' weekend, but without wanting to take time off from work, we were a little limited on where that was. Western Germany borders France, Switzerland, Belgium and the tiny country of Luxembourg. Switzerland is exorbitantly expensive this time of year, we are going to France and May, and we have already been to Belgium, so Luxembourg it was!

Exploring Pilsen: The Brewery Museum, The Underground Tour and European Capital of Culture

While in Pilsen, there were a couple of other places that we wanted to visit: the brewery museum and the underground tour. I did some research before we went and noted that if you purchases tickets for multiple tours on the same day, you would get a 25% discount. Always looking for a good value, this is what we ended up doing. I thought three tours in one day would be too much but as it turns out, it wasn't.
