Tips For Traveling With Kids - Part 1 - Getting There

Tips For Traveling With Kids - Part 1 - Getting There

We've done a lot of travel with our kids; I think that's pretty evident from the blog here and shouldn't be a huge surprise to anyone. I belong to a few Facebook groups and the one thing that I see asked over and over again, "We are headed to X with our toddler. Any tips for the long flight?" I also get asked if I have any tips for traveling with kids by many of my friends. Of course I have tips! So many tips! But, I've gotten tired from writing out the same one over and over again, and figured that writing a blog post about it would be easier for everyone. Most of these were learned the hard way, some were shared with us by fellow travelers, and others seemed natural to us, but have gotten the, "That's brilliant!" response from others.

10 Free (or almost free!) Walking Tours to Take in Europe

10 Free (or almost free!) Walking Tours to Take in Europe

It's no secret we love a good, free walking tour. They are usually led by locals and are pretty entertaining. Plus, they are a fantastic way to get a feel for the city and find things you may want to go back and explore later. I love that you usually get the history of what you're seeing, which really helps to put things in context. Plus, you get personal recommendations of places to go, restaurants to eat at, and pubs to grab a beer at, all from the people who actually go to those places. It's a win-win really. But sometimes the hardest part is finding the free tours, and then deciding which ones to go on! We've done the hard work for you and put together this list of 8 walking tours - all of which are FREE except for one! - that you can take on your European holiday. We've been on them all and can vouch for their awesomeness :)

10 Tips for First Time Travelers to Europe

Any trip, whether domestic, international, or even within a few hours from your home, can be exciting, and stressful, if your not prepared. I remember back to my first trip abroad. I was 17 (oh my gosh, that was over 10 years ago, #ifeelold), fresh out of high school, and I was going with a group organised through my school. Best of all, my sister and I were going together and we were going to England! Needless to say, we were excited, but also nervous. Between the flight, the time change, the new currency, and new foods, we weren't exactly sure what to expect.

Packing for a Weekend Getaway

Packing for a Weekend Getaway

We are no stranger to the weekend getaway. Actually, it's our preferred method of travel. In 2015 alone, we have gone on 15+ trips that are 4 days long or less. For many of them, we either take a train or fly. We're able to do this because we find cheap tickets, but once you factor in baggage fees, the overall price can tend to creep up. We have been working to streamline (and by we, I mostly mean, me) our packing and find the best luggage pieces that work for the way we travel. And I think we have finally found it! On our last two trips, Aaron and I have been able to pack using one piece of luggage. Yes, one piece of luggage. I wouldn't believe it was possible had we not actually done it ourselves.

Tips for Planning a Dog Sledding Trip in Northern Sweden

Tips for Planning a Dog Sledding Trip in Northern Sweden

Last week, we told you all about our dog sledding tour in the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland (click here to read about it!) When we booked our dog sledding trip, we weren't really sure what we were getting in to. As a result, the owner of White Trail Adventures, Daniella, fielded a LOT of questions from me. What do we bring? Is there power? Where should we stay the night before our tour starts? These were only a few of the questions that she answered for me.  I also did a ton of research to figure some of my questions out for myself.  So, to help others that may be planning a dog sledding trip, we have compiled this list of tips and questions that we had during the planning process.
