Life Lately

Life Lately

Hey, it's me, Meghan. You know, the one who wrote most of the blog posts here consistently for a few years. I've been absolutely terrible at keeping up with this thing for the last, oh, 18 months. So what have we been up to in that time? A whole hell of a lot. Some travel, some home stuff, and a whole lot of normal life in between. The stuff that's not all that exciting to read about. But, I want to fill you guys in on what our life as re-pats has been like since we stepped off a Lufthansa A380 into the hot and humid air of Houston on July 31, 2016. I'll try to keep this short and sweet, but let's be real, it'll probably get long. Longer than I intend.

Our First 100 Days

Our First 100 Days

The first 100 days are said to be significant. Not sure who, exactly, but let's go with it. Today, it has been 100 days since we returned from the Germany and started the next chapter of our lives in Texas. In that time, we have grappled with not only reverse culture shock, but culture shock in general. In case you didn't know, Texas is not quite the same as the north. So, what are some of the thoughts that crossed our minds in the last 100 days? What are some of the things we miss, and some of the things we are glad to have back?

Life Lately

Wow guys, it's been a while! Over two months now. I promise, I didn't forget about the blog, or you, we've just been busy. We make sure to take advantage of these holidays by traveling (we did the exact same thing last year by traveling to IcelandAustria, and Paris). A while ago, Aaron had discovered a dive resort near Bergen, Norway that offered both reef and shipwreck diving in the fjords. We kept it filed away, something that we might want to do once I was back in the water after Evelyn was born. And then my sister said she wanted to come visit. Since she had already visited us in Germany, we decided to meet somewhere else - to explore more of Europe. She and I had always wanted to visit Norway, and combined with the diving Aaron found, Norway was an easy decision.

Home Stretch, Baby!

Home Stretch, Baby!

I honestly cannot believe that as of today, I am 28 weeks pregnant, which means I have entered into the third trimester. Wait...what? Third trimester? Seriously, where did the time go?! I feel like it was just a few days ago that I found out I was pregnant, and then that we were sharing the news with everyone. But, since I'm closing in on the final stretch, I figured it was time to give you all an update.

Post Vacay Catch Up

While we were in the Philippines, we came to a startling realization: we haven't been accomplishing things on our Bucket List very quickly.  We both worry that *poof* it will be the end of our assignment here and we won't have much to show for it (and empty passports!).   With that thought, we had originally planned to head to Basel, Switzerland for a night the weekend after we got back from the Philippines.  Well, life managed to get in the way, planning was too rushed, and so we decided not to go to Basel at the last minute.  Instead, we caught up on the boring stuff - laundry, cleaning, sleep, that sort of thing.
