Life Lately and Some News

Guys, it’s been a little nuts around here. Either Aaron or I has been traveling just about every single week for work since June….of last year. Peppered in there was some fun travel too: Michigan, dive training in Florida, an amazing (but short) trip to Germany, Czech, and Austria, spending part of the holidays in Michigan with family. It’s been crazy and stressful around these parts. And amidst all that craziness going on, we had one more thing that we had to tackle: we had to buy a house.

It may come as no surprise if you’ve been following us for a while, but, we’re moving. Again. Not too far (this time), just one state over to Louisiana. The weather will be the same - more heat and humidity is in our future - the jobs aren’t changing, and we will still be 1000+ miles away from family, but this is a fantastic opportunity for me to progress in my career.

So - bring on the cajun! The alligators; the bayous; the old and beautiful plantations; the French Quarter; and Mardi Gras, which we will be there for this year. Speaking of which, anyone want to volunteer to come babysit some cute kids so we can partake in the Mardi Gras festivities?!

Our new house!!!

Our new house!!!

This move has actually been in the works for close to a year, but we only got final approval in August. After looking at close to 100 houses over the course of two weekends, we finally found a new build we fell in love with. We closed on our new house a couple of days ago making us now the proud owners of two houses in two different states! We will be listing our house in Texas soon so if you know of anyone moving to Beaumont, Texas, send them our way. We have a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house with an office ;)

The movers come next Monday to once again pack up all of our belongings into hundreds of carboard boxes and move it all to the new house. We’ve been talking up the move to the girls because at 1 and 3, it’s kind of a big deal - even for adults, moving is a big deal. An even bigger deal is that in the new house, they will be sharing a room! Evelyn is excited but I think it’s because she expects she will be sleeping with Julie, in her crib; Julie has no clue what’s coming. I’m hopeful that they don’t mess each others’ sleeping up too much or else they will have one tired and cranky mom on their hands! Tips for transitioning kids to a shared room are most welcome :)

So that’s what we’ve been up to lately! I can’t believe it’s 2019 already. The years seem to go by faster and faster every single year. Sometimes I welcome the speed (especially on those days the kids are just plain ol’ cranky), but other times, I wish time could just stop and stand still for a while. Beyond the move, we have few plans for this year - our goal the last few months has been to just survive - but I’m keeping an eye out for cheap flights to Europe of course! We also really want to explore our new state since there is so much near by - plantations, New Orleans, maybe some weekend trips to north Florida or other Gulf Coast states. We’re excited to see what this year brings - after the move that is!
